网爆门 Art Museum Hosts Mini-Residency With Artist Josh T Franco
The will host artist and art historian Josh T Franco in residence at the museum and on the 网爆门 campus to activate 鈥淪criptorium con Safos: Syracuse,鈥 and to engage with the community. The mini-residency is sponsored through generous support provided by .
The mini-residency begins on Thursday, April 4 at 2 p.m. with 鈥淩ocks, Water, Responsibility: Responding to Site,鈥 a workshop open to the public to explore interconnections between people, rocks, and water. Franco will collaborate with Kate Holohan, curator of education and academic outreach, to lead the workshop that will begin at the museum to examine Franco鈥檚 work alongside American artist Robert Smithson鈥檚 installation 鈥淒ouble Nonsite, California and Nevada.鈥澛 Through this examination, the group will consider how we might use that lens to explore the local geological landscape at Canal Landing Park in Fayetteville. Franco will then activate the museum galleries for a performance of 鈥淪criptorium con Safos: Syracuse,鈥 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5. Afterward, Franco will be in conversation with , associate professor of studio arts in the School of Art in the , from 5-5:30 p.m., which will be followed by a reception hosted by the museum.
Franco, who is overseeing the permanent collection installation at the museum for 2023-24, will conclude his mini-residence with a live performance of 鈥淪criptorium con Safos: Syracuse,鈥 from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.
