Building on Decades of Success at Greenberg House, 网爆门 Seeks New Space for Washington, D.C., Headquarters
Since its opening in 1990, Greenberg House has served as 网爆门鈥檚 Washington, D.C., headquarters, providing a central location in the nation鈥檚 capital for student recruitment, alumni engagement, University development and government relations. Made possible by a lead gift from Trustee Paul Greenberg 鈥65, the multipurpose facility has offered space for classes, seminars, conferences and meetings, and supported all the University鈥檚 schools and colleges.
Now, after 30 years of growth, innovation and successful programming, 网爆门 has outgrown the Greenberg House facility. The University plans to vacate the space and place the property on the market later this month, based on a need for larger classroom, event and office space, with an increasing number of Washington, D.C., programs taking place at other locations and via virtual forums.
Additionally, the four-story, 7,700-square-foot facility does not support the University鈥檚 commitment to providing physical space that is inclusive and accessible to all in the community. Modifying the building to be ADA compliant would be a significant and costly undertaking that would still not provide the required space and program needs.
鈥淲e are immensely grateful to Paul Greenberg and all the donors whose vision and generosity made Greenberg House our home away from home and laid the foundation for our presence in Washington, D.C.,鈥 says Chancellor Kent Syverud. 鈥淲e remain steadfast in our commitment to global learning, which includes a sustained, visible and comprehensive presence in our nation鈥檚 capital. It is our intention to identify new space in closer proximity to downtown Washington, D.C., to help accommodate the growing demands of our academic programs and to meet the needs of advancement, alumni engagement and government relations.鈥
The University will maintain its robust academic, research and scholarship presence in Washington, D.C., through the Maxwell School鈥檚 flagship programs for both undergraduate and graduate students, along with semester-long courses and immersion programs offered by the Newhouse School, the College of Law, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families and other academic partners.
The University will also remain highly visible and present via engagement with alumni, government leaders, policy makers, scholars and educators, and through the Maxwell School鈥檚 unique partnership with the best-in-class think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
